How To Transport Balloons In Your Car

How To Transport Balloons In Your Car

Whether it's a jumbo balloon or a bunch of balloons, travelling with them can be quite a challenge...especially if it's your first time!  Some of the problems you may encounter with the huge air-filled items is that it can be too big to fit in your vehicle, can easily become a tangled mess, float away or worse, pop during transportation. Hence why we've decided to provide you with a few quick tips to help you on your journey if you ever choose to travel with balloons in your car.

Vehicle

Before figuring out whether it's suitable for you to pick up the balloons yourself or have it delivered, the first thing you need to check is whether the balloons can fit into your vehicle. It is generally the bigger the car, the more balloons you can fit and travel with. However, when it comes to bigger balloons like the 60cm or 90cm (jumbo) balloons, most people will find it difficult to fit it through the car door, let alone travel with. Therefore, it's a good idea to make sure you have:

  • 4 Seater Car
  • Limit to no passengers (dependent on the qty of the big balloons)
  • Empty your car seats

Below you will find a quick guide on which car is suitable for transportation depending on the size and quantity:

60cm Balloons

If we were to consider there are no passengers, backseats are placed down and empty seats.

Less than two balloons - Backseat of a Medium Sedan (E.g. Toyota Camry, Honda City, Hyundai Elantra)

Three to four balloons - Car boot with the backseat placed down for a Hatchback or mini SUV (E.g. Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Golf, Honda CRV, Nissan Qashqai)

Five balloons - Car boot with the backseat placed down for a medium/large SUV (E.g. Subaru Forester, Land Rover Discovery, Toyota Landcruiser, Nissan Dualis)

Six or seven balloons - MPV (Toyota Prius V, Honda Odyssey, Kia Grand Carnival)

90cm Balloons

Less than two balloons - Car boot with the backseat placed down for a Hatchback or mini SUV (E.g. Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Golf, Honda CRV, Nissan Qashqai)

Three to four balloons - Car boot with the backseat placed down for a medium/large SUV (E.g. Subaru Forester, Land Rover Discovery, Toyota Landcruiser, Nissan Dualis)

Five or six balloons -  MPV (Toyota Prius V, Honda Odyssey, Kia Grand Carnival

Preparation

It is very important that there are plenty of space in the back seat and car boot. Nothing is worst than arriving to your pick up point only to realise that your jumbo balloon doesn't fit due a baby seat or passengers occupying the back seat. Therefore, before leaving your home, you need to make sure the back area is free of items (including passengers), as well as checking the car for sharp objects or edges. If there are any sharp objects, either remove it or cover it with tape or a towel. This will prevent your balloons from popping in the car during travelling. If you are driving a hatchback, SUV or MPV, make sure that the back seat can be folded down to a flat position.

Loading/Off-loading

When loading the balloons into the vehicle, you should always have one hand holding the balloon weight as well as both hands securing the top of the balloon ribbon/our Puff and Pop Plastic bag to maximise control, especially in windy weather. Also, make sure that there's enough space to manoeuvre and there are no obstruction from the pick up area and vehicle. You should also be alert of sharp objects such as plants and walls (brick and rendered) as they can cause the balloons to pop. However, if you need assistance bringing it into your car, please ask one of the Puff and Pop stylists to assist. They would love to help!

Travelling

Always place the balloons in the back seat of your car. We do not recommend placing the balloons in the passenger seat as this can interfere with your driving.  Also, just before take off, maximise the vehicle's air conditioner to keep the air cool. This will help prevent the balloons from bursting as well as limit balloon shrinkage.
